Florida Communities We Serve
We serve communities across South Florida, including:
- Florida – Nicknamed “the Sunshine State,” Florida is a popular vacation and retirement destination. As the country’s fourth most populous state, with more than 19 million residents, Florida basks in sub-tropical sun on a peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, giving the state the longest coastline in the continental United States. Florida’s substantial retirement community emphasizes the importance of elder law issues in the state, including the prevention of nursing home abuse and neglect.
- Florida Treasure Coast – This area (population 562,135 – 2010 Census) is on the east coast of central Florida, and stretches from just above Sebastian Inlet down to North Palm Beach. The Treasure Coast includes Stuart (the county seat of Martin County), Port St. Lucie (a large, sprawling coastal city best known as home to New York Mets spring training), Palm Beach (in Palm Beach County), and Vero Beach (the county seat of Indian River County).
- Fort Pierce – The Sunrise City is one of the oldest communities on Florida’s east coast. More than 44,000 residents live in Fort Pierce, where the Smithsonian maintains a research center. The city also serves as the home of the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. There are three nursing and retirement homes in Fort Pierce.
- Jupiter – With a population of over 50,000, Jupiter is a popular vacation site with its beaches, golfing, fishing, museums, and annual arts and performing events. The town’s famous landmark is the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, which dates to 1860. There are two nursing and retirement homes in Jupiter.
- Palm Beach – Known locally as “The Island,” Palm Beach is Florida’s easternmost town, being located on an Atlantic coast barrier island. The town’s population fluctuates seasonally, ranging from around 10,000 to over 30,000. As might be expected for an island community, Palm Beach offers a wide variety of boating, water sports, and other outdoor activities. There are ten nursing and retirement homes in the Palm Beach area.
- Palm City – Palm City serves as home to more than 21,000 residents. Located on the St. Lucie River, Palm City supports many waterfront communities. Residents enjoy boating, fishing, and golf, among other outdoor sports. The city celebrates its centennial in 2012. There are three nursing and retirement homes in Palm City.
- Port St. Lucie – With a bustling and rapidly growing population of over 155,000, Port St. Lucie wasn’t settled significantly until the early 1960s and was first declared a city in April 1961. The city hosts several sports teams, including spring training for the New York Mets. The city also PGA golf course associated with its PGA Village golf and tourist destination. There are nine nursing and retirement homes in Port St. Lucie.
- Stuart – Stuart sits on Florida’s Treasure Coast, so-named in recognition of the shipwreck of several Spanish galleons in the area in the 18th century. Nicknamed “Sailfish Capital of the World,” Stuart offers an historic downtown district and pristine beaches, among other attractions. There are three nursing and retirement homes in Stuart.
- Vero Beach – Some 17,000 residents live in Vero Beach, where they enjoy all the amenities expected in a seaside hamlet on Florida’s Treasure Coast. Travel guides recognize the community as a haven for golfers, as well as beachgoers and those in search of nature tours and museums. There are eleven nursing and retirement homes in Vero Beach.
